Cake Men GangThis week saw us taking a well-earned break from the video production, and instead we were being creative and crafty (in a Jane Sellers kinda way!). Nicci organised an evening of making Cake Men – something she had made for a New Years Party and they went down a storm, and as ever, we always pinch the best ideas for Amicus. It involved a square sponge cake, a couple of blocks of cake icing, a decent amount of icing sugar, a rainbow of food colourings, a great big knife and a collection of implements for “crafting”.

The sponge cake was divided up into nine roughly equal squares and the extra bits lopped off for use later (hats, accessories and, um, eating).  Everyone was given a piece of sponge and a lump of icing.  The first job was to play with the icing to make it pliable, before adding enough food colouring to make a tremendous mess on the work surface, hands, clothes, and of course to colour the icing.  Then we had to roll out the icing and ensure it was big enough to cover our sponge cube, trimming off any excess, then sticking the icing to the sponge using butter cream (mmmmm, tasty).  Then we had to smooth down the wrinkles and joins before decorating it with a face and accessories as desired.  It was a massive amount of fun – and although it was messy, once again the clean-up was swift and effective.  Take a look at the pictures below (or click here):

Thanks to Nicci for a fab evening.  After the clean up process was complete, Simon led us in devotions and explained a little of what we’ve been considering at Home Group for the last few weeks. He then encouraged us to think about what it means to live a Christian life of integrity, with all areas of our lives living up to Jesus’ expectations. We closed by listening to Cross of Gold by Michael W. Smith.

Next Week: Table Tennis & Pool
