About

What is a Promise Auction?

Rather than offering tangible items or things for auction, instead we’ll be auctioning services which have been promised by individuals/groups from the Church and wider family.  For example, a lot might be for ‘four hours of piano tuition’.

The auction will have three different types of lot:

  • for most lots you’ll bid against others in the traditional way
  • other promises will be decided by ’silent auction’, when you decide how much you’re prepared to pay for it, write down your bid and hand it to the Auction Staff, and the highest bidder wins
  • a selection of lots are likely to have a fixed cost and decided on a ‘first come, first served’ basis

We are also anticipating a number of ‘featured lots’ which will remain secret until the evening of the auction.

How Can I Get Involved?

Most of the planning and organisation of the event will be completed by the Amicus Members and Staff, but there are a number of ways for you to get involved and help us out…

Make A Promise:

We’d like to offer a wide variety of promises to attract enthusiastic bidding from everyone. Do you have a little time and a particular skill which you can offer in the form of a promise? Perhaps you’re a keen gardener and you would like to offer a few hours to tidy someone’s garden; or perhaps you’re a DIY whiz and could offer to put up shelves or hang doors. If you have a particular passion and aren’t sure how it might work as a promise for the auction please get in touch and we’ll see if we can help you.

Invite Your Family & Friends:

This is a great opportunity to invite family and friends who don’t normally attend Church to an informal event, and to have a great time without them fearing that they’ll be bombarded by the God-Squad.

Join The Team:

We’ve already secured the services of a guest Auctioneer, but there are plenty of other roles which will need to be filled, from lighting and PA to refreshments. If you think you can help out please let us know…

Volunteer to distribute Publicity Material:

If you are able to put up some posters in your school, office or local shop, please let us know.
