Promo Email

Following the runaway success of last year’s event, on Saturday 25th April from 7pm at Water Eaton Church Centre, Bletchley, we will be holding our second Promise Auction to raise funds for 1st Bletchley BB – and you’re invited!
As last year, the evening will be a gala event with plenty of time for fellowship and socialising alongside the excitement of the auction; it will also feature drinks, nibbles and desserts, and entertainment. The event has been organised by the Amicus members as part of the group’s fund-raising efforts. We see this as:
- an opportunity to raise much-needed funds for the BB Company
- encouragement to serve each other with our God-given gifts
- have a great evening of fun and fellowship
What Is a Promise Auction?
Rather than offering tangible items or things for auction, instead we’ll be auctioning services which have been promised by individuals and groups from the Church and wider family.
Some lots will be decided in the more traditional and possibly most exciting way where individuals will openly bid against each other. Other lots will involve a ‘silent’ auction when you decide how much you’re prepared to pay for it, write down your bid and hand it to the Auction Staff, and the highest bidder wins.
What Is On Offer?
We currently have 26 lots and they vary widely, with something for everyone, including some of last year’s popular lots and new and fresh ones too:
- car valet by an enthusiast
- car wash by the Junior Section members
- basic Powerpoint lessons
- ‘boxercise’ coaching {new!}
- sets of home-made cards
- 4 tickets to an motorcycle endurance event at Silverstone {new!}
- food related vouchers: (you decide when you’d like to redeem them)
- fruit cakes
- a special meal for two: cooked and served
- waiting staff for your function {new!}
- narrowboat trips
- gardening services (heaving and light)
- decorating and cleaning services
- shopping services
- personal (fashion)
- domestic (your weekly shopping delivered for a month) {new!}
The final lot catalogue will be released in the next two weeks and published on the Amicus website (and we’ll email once more when it is available).
Don’t take our word for it…
We worked hard to make the first Promise Auction a success, and we received lots of very positive feedback about the event. As people left at the end of the evening the most popular comment was “that was brilliant – when is the next one?!”. This comment sums up the feedback:

We hoped people would enjoy the event, and find that the ‘promises’ offered great value, but the thing which has surprised us most is the enjoyment felt by those who made and kept their promises. For many it involved a real commitment of time and energy – but everyone has said what a joy it was to use their talents to serve others. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised – after all, isn’t that what we’re supposed to do?
What do I need to do?
We’d love to see you at the Church Centre for the Promise Auction if you are able to attend – if so, please drop us an email to let us know how many people are coming. But if you’re not able to attend, you might still be able to take part. Send a bid by email (address below) to arrive no later than Friday 24th April at 10pm and we’ll have someone bid on your behalf. However, even if there’s nothing which you’re interested in bidding on, please consider making a donation to support the ongoing work of the 1st Bletchley Boys’ Brigade.
Thanks for reading this far…
We appreciate your time and attention, and hope to see you at the auction.
God Bless…
